Picture "Plage du Prado Marseille" (2023)
Ulla Kutter painted here the Plage du Prado near Marseille. The main purpose of the painting is to depict the warm atmosphere and light of the summer evening. In many glazes of oil paint the colors of the sunset come to the fore. Even the sea and the beach reflect these soft warm tones. As the opposite of the action on the beach here is a multicolored dark scrub, behind it the Ferris wheel. Through these different elements, an exciting image structure has succeeded. Kutter only hints at much of the background and the underpainting in bright orange shimmers through. This technique of working with an underpainting allows for the density and warmth of the resulting atmosphere.
